XP Will Support Games for Windows Live

xpwinlive.jpgRemember on Tuesday how I mentioned that Gears of War would run on XP machines per the Microsoft Press Conference? Well I was in discussions with some people today at the Microsoft booth, when I asked about Games for Windows Live support. They told me that it did have it built in.

This was common knowledge, but what came next kind of shocked me. I interjected that it only supports Live on Vista. They replied, “No, it is supported in Vista. We never stated that GFW Live would only be on Vista.” I was floored by this. I was under the impression that Live could not be supported because the software to run it was inherent on Windows Vista being present. This is not the case. Live can and will be supported for many releases on Vista and XP.

This was not officially announced, but I thought I would get the scoop out to the readers.

They certainly implied it with Halo 2 and Shadowrun.
