Wii Remote as Lightsaber is a Reality in LSW:TCS.

Almost from the beginning, people (including myself, and I’m completely sick of Star Wars) have been insisting we need a direct-control Star Wars game on the Wii. Who wouldn’t want to swing a lightsaber that way?

Recent conjecture has said that maybe the upcoming Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Wii (it’s on all platforms of course, but who else has a lightsaber for a controller?) would implement this. It turns out this is correct, and GameSpy claims the exclusive on that.

More to the point, we got to be the first people outside of LucasArts to use the Wii Remote, in its full motion-sensing glory, as a lightsaber in a videogame. And it was fun. If you love the original Lego Star Wars games for their charm, humor and visual style, then being able to swing your Wii Remote to slice your lightsaber through your adorable Lego foes is going to be delicious icing on the cake.

I held off on picking these games up on Cube, but this collection is looking more appealing all the time. The preview linked assesses the game as improved over the originals in its current unfinished state.

Also note IGN’s previews of the PS3 version and the 360 version.
