OXM Demos Coming to Xbox Live…At a Cost
The Official Xbox 360 Magazine is going to start hosting their own demos on Xbox Live. One caveat: they cost Microsoft points. It always seems like too good a thing to be able to download a demo and play it over and over before buying it. Now, those demos that OXM pays for exclusiveness will cost you 250 Microsoft points. Not sure why this was done, but I love how the PR guy at OXM states that he has received lots of positive feedback on this new method of distribution.
Great, now demos are gonna cost us players some money. Sure it is just OXM now, but if Microsoft witnesses this as a money maker, then they will be all over it. Let’s hope that patches will still be free. I can see that one too. Want your game to work, just give us 80 points for the latest and greatest patch. And so the era of microtransactions continues to empty our wallets.
