Ones to Watch: August 2007 DS releases
What have we for the month of August for DS owners? On the 6th, we greet Worms: Open Warfare 2, in “irreverent annelidic fun.” Then on the 7th comes three versions of Mega Man Star Force: Pegasus, Leo, and Dragon.
Harvest Moon lovers have something to look forward to on the 14th, when Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon debuts. It’s an RPG in which you’ll be able to tame and raise monsters… hmm, why does that sound familiar?
The 14th is a busy day! The next title released that day is Heroes of Mana, a new real-time strategy from the famous series. Luminous Arc makes an entrance for turn-based strategy lovers. If you’re a fan of historic tactical shooters, check out Operation: Vietnam. Licensed-game fans will get their hands on High School Musical: Makin’ The Cut, sports fans have Madden NFL ’08, CCG gamers have Fullmetal Alchemist: Trading Card Game, and finally, racers have ATV / Monster Truck Mayhem. Phew, what a day for games!
On the 20th, look for Brain Age 2, which you can also find packaged with the spiffy new DS Lite pictured above. Also, you’ll find Flipper Critters, a pinball game set in a fantasy world.
The 21st brings forth The Settlers at long last. Sim City fans will definitely want to check it out. Also appearing on the 21st is LifeSigns: Surgical Unit. I hope it’s better than Trauma Center, which was just okay, IMHO. Minigames fans will want to look for Turn It Around, “a collection of minigames based on rotating discs on the touch screen.” Can it possibly compete with the WarioWare series?
While previous Garfield games haven’t been particularly worthwhile, the orange feline makes yet another attempt at video gaming on the 28th with Garfield’s Nightmare, a 2D platformer. On the same day, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 debuts.
Finally, although it doesn’t yet have a release date, sometime this month Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery is supposed to be released. August looks to be a great month for DS gamers, with tons of choices.
