New models of PS2 Slim have lost weight

scale.gifThe latest model (SCPH-79000) of the PS2 Slim looks exactly the same, but has been internally modified and weighs 2/3 of the original PS2 Slim, down to 600g from 900g. The AC adapter has even shed some grams, coming down to 250.

Opposable Thumbs notes that some are speculating it might be in for one final price drop, to $99, but doubts that it will happen.

    The smart thing for them to do is use the cost savings to help support the impending price drop on the PS3. The PS2′s sales are still strong and they can make a lot of their loss on the PS3 back with that.
