New Gears Content to Remain PC-Only? Unlikely.

gearsboxstuff.jpgThat’s what Epic is saying, according to advancedmn.com. They were able to corner Mark Rein and Cliffy B on the matter.

When questioned on the possibility of the exclusive Gears of War PC content appearing on the Xbox 360, we found that while technically achievable, the chances are looking rather dim. While Mark Rein dodged the issue more or less, we found Cliffy B to be a bit more cooperative.

This was bantered around E3. The content takes place between to chapters that already exist, so it would be easy enough to add the content. The only problem is that there are new achievements that may deal with this extra content, which they may have to get rid of if they have already reached the 1250 point limit for achievement points.

Of course some folks don’t have an Xbox 360 and may not mind playing a well-hyped game such as Gears on their gaming PC.

Given how long Gears has been out on the 360, I wouldn’t be surprised if they left it alone at this point and just focused on the absolutely inevitable Gears of War 2. We know the 360 will get that much sooner than the PC will, so why get upset about a some extra single-player content in the PC version?

Paul, I might agree with you if we didn’t have Halo 2 as a shining example of what kind of delay between console and PC release publishers find acceptable.

Oh come on, you know they will release the extra content on the marketplace. We all know that Microsoft loves its money.
