Mystery mode in Brawl pits trophies against each other.

    By Stephen Munn | July 20, 2007

The Smash Bros Dojo updated today with a somewhat cryptic entry and a pile of related screenshots. Without naming the mode, the update says the following:

    In this world, trophies fight.
They know nothing but fighting. Fighting is the sole reason for their existence.
Being turned back into a trophy, being unable to fight, is much like death.
Those are the rules of this world.
    But…
When someone…or something…breaks those rules, the world will pay a terrible price…

The screenshots don’t seem to telegraph what’s going on, aside from a Mario trophy and a Kirby trophy going toe-to-toe. Something unpleasant seems to happen if they don’t fight. Perhaps a boss battle? The screenshot associated with that unpleasant event is the image above.

I’m not sure what this is all about, but the implications are pretty amazing. This seems to say that the assist trophies in the game, which are basically Nintendo characters that didn’t make the cut as playable fighters (such as Dr. Wright from SimCity on SNES and Deoxys, who is perhaps best known as the cover Pok?

Deoxys is probably better know for the movie that it starred in... not for being on the cover of battle revolution.

You're right. After looking for the cover art to back up what I wrote, I realized I was confusing the character for another. Chalk that one up to my deliberate avoidance of everything Pok?

To be honest, isnt this just the story for the game? highly doubt this is a mode of any sort, just pictures from the introductory FMV.

All the past SSB games had the story following toys/trophies being animated to life. I dont see why this would be any different?
