Microsoft releases an SLI/Crossfire Hotfix

If you have been running Vista with a Crossfire or SLI setup, you may have noticed that you are not getting the performance gains that you would expect with this kind of setup. Well, the reason has finally come out. Seems that there was a bug in Microsoft Vista that did not forward render requests to the second card.
The problem, documented under KB936710, looks like it contains some files in regards to DirectX10, which makes me think that the problem resides in the DX10 functionality. This fix should boost performance as the second card will actually be doing something. I always wondered why my second card in Vista was 15-20 degrees cooler. Guess not doing anything might have had something to do with it.
You can grab the hotfix at this location from Microsoft. There is a 32 and a 64 bit version of the patch, so make sure you’re nabbing the right one.
