Metal Gear Online announced.
According to IGN, Konami’s just announced a 16-player online Metal Gear game for PS3. It’s a game of hide-and-seek. Screens are at the link. The article claims they’re on Konami’s website as well, but I wasn’t able to find them, or any reference to the game, in a quick search. Turns out it’s here, at Kojima’s studio site. Most notable to me is the absence of “Solid” in the title. Solid’s been a mainstay of the series since it migrated to the PS1 more than a decade ago.
“At last, Metal Gear Online is headed to PS3! Featuring characters, stages, and the same control scheme as found in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4, this reloaded MGO experience packs in additional environments, game modes, and team-based multiplayer mayhem to make this the ultimate online companion to MGS4!”
Today’s Konami presentation did talk a bit about a new team system in MGO called SOKKU, which allows you quickly and easily access info on your allies. You’ll even be able to see them through walls.
There is also mention of a limited beta coming up for the game.
