Industry Analyst Predicts 360 Price Cut

Submitted by on July 9, 2007 – 7:03 pm3 Comments

xbox360product.jpgSeems that Microsoft will not be undercut by the competition, according to industry analyst Michael Pachter. He believes that Microsoft will soon cut the price of the Elite to $399 from $479, the Premium to $349 from $399 and the Core to $249 from $299. While none of these numbers have been announced officially by Microsoft, it makes financial sense for them to try to match the competition. It will be interesting to see if there is an official announcement from Microsoft at tomorrow’s press event at E3.

Don’t nobody hold your breath. I google’d “industrial analyst Michael Pachter” and it comes up that he’s a fourteen year old kid that writes for the Tahoma High School Newspaper and recently broke the story that Nintendo Wii’s have a new innovative controller.

Wouldn’t be surprising as it would open up a pricing strategy in which their best version costs the same as the cheapest PS3 version and their cheapest version costs the same as a Wii.

I would expect them to slide the price down a little as well, particularly as the Wii’s installed base continues to close in with no sign of slowing.
