Gameover: Hovel Sweet Hovel Edition

My game of choice when I’m not going to play online on my PS3 is still Oblivion. This weekend I spent a number of hours digging into the quests for it, which remind me more and more of MMO quests, in a good way. Except in Oblivion there aren’t any griefers in my living room trying to hog the rewards, stream a train of mobs onto me, or make me wait around for some creature to magically reappear to be slain. I took two plunges in this great RPG over the weekend, one that followed from the other.
The first was learning how the persuasion mini-game worked. I’d been told to ignore it by the game guide, but found I actually needed it to get certain people to like me and sell me things I wanted. I needed it to bring up the Imperial City’s house vendor’s opinion of me. Once I got it to where I needed it, I plunked down the cash I’d saved and was the proud owner of a tiny hovel on the outskirts of the city. I quickly bought the “storage” package for it and when I arrived I had two beat up dressers and a chest to pile all of the herbs potions, and everything else I’d been schlepping around into.
It felt good to unburden myself, and allowed me to clear my virtual head of all the crazy ideas and goals I’d amassed while waiting to get my own home. So which quest did I tackle first?
None of them. I grabbed my bow and arrows, took off my boots to allow the best sneaking possible, and crept into the nearest dungeon I hadn’t yet cleared to get more loot to sell. I may be playing a High Elf Blade Mage, but when I can get off a shot unseen, my enemies go down a lot easier after that.
What did you play this weekend?
