Wii-Cube RE4 Comparison is Spooky

RE4_wii_Cube.JPGWii critics tend to blast the console’s lack of graphical prowess but I really don’t see things that way. To me, based on the library and price, the Wii is a perfect complement to a PS3 or 360, not a primary source of gaming. You buy the system for First Party and if you’re expecting anything more, that’s your own fault.

Some might be excited for Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, although after watching through this video, it’s a pretty tough sell. In some of these scenes, it actually seems like the Cube version looks better than the Wii. That really can’t be the case throughout the entire game but this video was pretty startling.

Full video is inside, is the new control scheme really worth buying this game again?

while the graphics don’t seem like a huge problem for me, the chainsaw “edit” is a lot to digest. Is that because it’s the Japanese version or did they censor the head loss for wiis worldwide?

That’s an interesting question, Mac. A number of games have been “censored” for the Japanese audience that way, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this being the same.

I have to wonder if the graphical differences are really of any significance. The game is an exact copy, I don’t think you can even consider it a port. The architecture is the same despite faster clock speeds, and Capcom has said, as I recall, that no enhancements have been made to the visuals. So the game’s had the PS2 content added in, widescreen’s been added in, Wii controls added in, and it’s been put on a Wii disc instead at a budget price. Most early reports suggest it’s the definitive version of a fantastic game.

That said, I already played through it on the Gamecube. I don’t have time to play through this kind of game again, IR pointer aiming and budget pricing or not. Give me RE5 with these controls and it’s a different story. I’m paying much closer attention to the all-new Umbrella Chronicles.

Graphics looked identical to me. I own the cube version already so…… I hear good things about the Wii-controls. I’ll probably pick it up when it hits 19.99. By that time I should have forgotten alot of the specifics and be ready to give it a fresh go.

The Wii is my primary source for gaming. It satisfies me very nicely (and will do so completely when GHIII comes out). To me, the other consoles have more holes in their libraries that need filling (particularly the PS3). I think the 360 makes a great second console to fulfill my occasional pre-pubescent desire to manipulate quasi-human juggernauts on projectile fueled massacres amidst lots of volumetrically smoke-filled explosions, and to play Oblivion. :)

Yeah I wondered why that comparasin was even made :/

to answer your question about the consorship, it’s only just the japanese version, the north american version will get all the blood and gore and decapitations :D
