VC Monday: Slap in the Face Edition.

It wasn’t long after my comment about Street Fighter II Turbo appearing on the ESRB site that Nintendo proved what a bunch of jerks they can be by putting the game on the Virtual Console without pulling the inferior “World Warrior” version that is already there.
Today you can get F-Zero X (N64) for 1000 points, Street Fighter II’ Turbo: Hyper Fighting (SNES) for 800 points (I thought the ‘ version never hit the SNES, but oh well) or China Warrior (TG-16) for 600 points.
Let this be a lesson to us all. Don’t buy a game on the Virtual Console if a superior version of the game exists. Nintendo is perfectly willing to drop them down right next to each other. Check out the smug press release below, featuring such cheeky schlock as “this classic title offered enhanced playing speed and improved character balancing.”
Thanks, Nintendo. Thanks.
