Stor3d: Championship Sprint and Ridge Racer 7 Add-Ons
This week’s PlayStation Store update rolls out the last of the announced Midway titles for PSN with Championship Sprint as well as some Add-Ons for Ridge Racer 7. Throw in a couple of movie trailers and three MLB 07 tutorial videos and it’s not a bad haul.
Championship Sprint
The last of last Midway’s games zips onto the PS3 in the form of Championship Sprint, and it gets the typical treatment of HD compatible graphics and online play with a $5 price tag and no voice chat. I’ll say it again, but if Sony doesn’t put voice chat into the firmware I don’t really know how they expect to sell these things.
Ridge Racer 7 Add-Ons
Ridge Racer 7 gets a trio of Add-Ons, two of which are free. The 20 “BGM” background music tracks are $15, or $0.99 each. The 13 sets of Decals for your car featuring various Namco game properties are free, as are the 25 additional UFRA Special Events. The data downloads to the PS3 and patches the game data already present on your hard drive from the game. As someone who doesn’t particularly care about racing games in general and who thinks Ridge Racer is pretty boring, I’ll pass on these, but here are the details in case you’d like to know what’s what (other than the song names):
The Decals are:
1. Katamari Damacy
2. Drum Master
3. Dengeki PS
4. .hack G.U.
5. CODE GEASS
6. Eureka Seven +Bones
7. AQUARION
8. ACE COMBAT 5
9. Mainichi Issyo
11. (Yes no 10, I know it’s strange.) ACE COMBAT ZERO
12. King Street Sounds
13. PAC-MAN
14. XEVIOUS
Each of the 25 UFRA Special Events are just labeled Special Event 1 through 25 in the store, but if you click into each one you get a full description of the special event and what track it takes place on.
Videos
You have two movie trailers. One for Hot Rod, the other for the Pixar film Ratatouille, which looks gorgeous in Full HD 1080.
The other three videos are MLB 07 videos for the Pitch System Tutorial, the Road To The Show Tutorial, and the UmpPersonal Tutorial. MLB 07: The Show has gotten some good reviews, with Gamespot giving it an 8.2 Great rating, calling it the Road To the Show mode “fantastic”. It could be worth checking out for sports fans.
