RE4 Wii Edition Proving the Custom Controls Plea.

A while ago I whined a bit about games not often allowing us to customize controls. It seems like something that shouldn’t be too hard, but it’s not happening anyway.
Enter Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. The review of the game over at GameTrailers.com points out that if you don’t like the new motion controls, you can play the game with the Wii Classic Controller or a standard Gamecube controller instead. Now that is what I would have to call “done properly.” There’s no better time for me to make this point again, so here it goes.
Take a look at the reviews for the Wii games. The biggest games are very polarizing for the reviewers and the players and it’s all based on the controls. If there isn’t only one way that makes sense for the game to control, throw them all in there and let the player choose how they play the game. All games ought to have at least two ways to play if you’re not going to simply let us remap the actions to different buttons or motions.
You can check out the video review I mentioned below, where they give the game a 9.3, by the way. The controller options are mentioned about four-fifths of the way through the video.
