Microsoft Suing Immersion: Time To Pay Up?
Back in 2002 Immersion sued Microsoft and Sony, and in mid-2003 Microsoft decided not to fight it and settled for a paltry $26 million — something Sony wishes they had done back in the beginning now that they are $120+ million poorer plus court fees. Microsoft has announced today they’re suing Immersion for breach of contract.
I’m willing to bet that this has something to do with a contract provision I remember reading about that would pay Microsoft back a certain number of millions of dollars if and when Sony settles and/or licenses Immersion’s patents.
