Maxis not involved in Sim City 5
Electronic Arts has confirmed that there will be a Sim City 5, called Sim City Societies, only on PC. It is also going to be different from the previous games in the series, although the new developer won’t reveal howso. That’s right – Maxis isn’t involved with this one. It’s going to be made by Tilted Mill.
The only Tilted Mill game I played didn’t leave me with a great impression – it was Children of the Nile, also the only game I’ve ever beta-tested. It was completely and totally a rip-off of the Sierra game Pharoah. Since they have proven they can plagiarize other games, perhaps they’ll do well in staying faithful to the series, despite whatever new features are being added.
“An EA rep would only say that the title will move the series ‘in a new and exciting direction’ that would ‘take the franchise back to its roots, and create an accessible, flexible game that will continue to appeal to avid SimCity fans, as well as attract new players to the franchise.’”
