If You Ask Again The Answer Will Still Be No!
Fanboys desparate for a favorite game to come to their console are sometimes like little kids. They just keep asking over and over for something they can’t have. Just a few days ago a PlayStation-fan-favorite rumor of Gears of War being pitched to Sony for the PS3 was put down very directly by Epic:
This story is complete bull****. … We’re very happy with our relationship with Microsoft. If it weren’t for them Gears wouldn’t be the huge hit it has become. — Joystiq.
It doesn’t get more direct than that. Today we have another example from the other side of the aisle. Always hungry for a scoop, the gaming press in Japan put the only question less popular than “Is MGS4 coming to the 360?” to a SquareEnix executive: Will the 360 get any Final Fantasy games after the MMO Final Fantasy XI?
“For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production,” replied Hashimoto. “As for FF on the Xbox 360, it’s currently a completely blank page.” — IGN
It’s not a categorical denial, of course, but it’s yet another N and O from Square Enix. By the way if you haven’t checked lately, FFXI is very cheap to buy. I saw it in the clearance bin at a big box retailer a month or two ago going for 15 bucks or so, and online auctions were at roughly that price as well. If you’ve ever wanted to play it — and I do have a bit of a soft spot for the game despite its relatively hardcore gameplay — it’s now cheaper than ever to get started.
