Gameover: Reloading from Checkpoint Edition
There are things one has to get used to when playing a magic-user in a combat-heavy game like Champions: Return To Arms. Things like not being able to carry much more than the cloth armor on your back, knowing you’re dead meat if you’re cornered by more than one enemy, and that if you’ve picked the wrong spell from your quick-select spellbook you might as well let your enemy kill you and reload.
What started out as an intent to play Return to Arms for about 15 minutes on Saturday night before going to bed ended up becoming a two-hour saga that kept me up until 2am. It consisted of inching forward bit by bit, sticking my Erudite’s neck out, and getting his head chopped off by the foes at Champion difficulty. I was making just enough, ah, headway each time that I kept going, and going, and going. I was happy to make headway, but I was pretty wiped out on Sunday morning.
The saving grace for all those reloads? The load times for the game on the PS3 are pretty short compared to what they were on the PS2.
What did you play this weekend?
