Gamecock Media Bring Hail to the Chimp to Next Gen Consoles

HttC-logo1.jpgWith a national election coming up next year, it is only fitting to have a game out that satirizes the process. Wideload Games has decided to elect a new king of the jungle in Hail to the Chimp, a game for the 360 and PS3 that is due next summer. The premise sounds interesting enough. The king of the jungle is deposed due to scandal and the jungle needs to find a replacement. You then take control of one of ten animals vying for the top spot. You have to balance out all of your needs vs. the public demand. One has to wonder whether gamers want to deal with a political simulation or not, but credit Wideload Games for trying something different.

Hail to the Chimp – didn’t they get this name from The Simpsons?

That, or any number of bumper stickers in your blue state of choice, right alongside “Hail to the Thief.” At first I wondered about the audience not suiting the game (no Wii version?) and then I realized that’s exactly the point. Casual and strategy games are almost nonexistent on these platforms. They likely see the PS3 and 360 as untapped markets.
