Blockbuster Chooses Blu-ray
Not long ago Wal-Mart chose to favor HD-DVD, citing the relative cheapness of the players and discs. Today Blockbuster weighed in and announced that Blu-ray will exclusively be stocked at its 1,700 stores nationwide.
Why would Blockbuster do this? Because their pilot test of both HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs in select stores resulted in 70% of consumers choosing Blu-ray over the HD-DVD.
Am I glad to see Blockbuster choose Blu-ray? As a PS3 owner, I suppose, but it has been a very, very long time since I’ve rented from anywhere but Netflix, and they support both.
