2K’s The BIGS and The Darkness released today.

Take Two announced today the release of two multiplatform games from label 2K.
First, there’s a baseball game called The BIGS, by Visual Concepts, under the mark 2K Sports. This is a MLBPA and MLB licensed game, but rather than going for super-realism, they’ve made a game that goes a bit more in an “extreme” kind of casual-ish direction. Perhaps the most extreme of all is the group of platforms that will get the game: Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PS2, and PSP. The Wii version has a custom control scheme that heavily relies on the motion sensing capabilities, letting the player perform swings and throws directly. Early impressions of non-release builds of the game reported some problems with the way the controls were implemented. It will be interesting to see if the final release ironed any possible issues out. The PS2 and PSP versions of this game are $40, and the rest are $50.
Second, you’ve got a more limited release, The Darkness, which is a comic book license, on 360 and PS3. This is a first-person action game involving mafioso with supernatural powers. This is probably an oversimplification, but I’m not familiar with the comic book, so maybe someone can fill us all in on how anticipated this game is for fans of the literature. This game has a significant pedigree, being from Starbreeze, the team behind the critically acclaimed Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.
