You’ve Gone and Done It Now, SIXAXIS!
Yesterday was the final straw, I can no longer remain silent. In life, I’m a very patient man but when it comes to my games, that’s far from the truth. Last night, my SIXAXIS bugged out on my Wife twice in Go!Sudoku alone and anyone in a relationship knows what that means.
I was in the other room when I suddenly heard the usually methodical button-press sound effect turn into a steady, faster than humanly possible button mash. It lasted for about 3 seconds and then went quiet.
“What the hell was that?!” she screamed at the TV
“What?” I responded, playing dumb. I knew what happened, it’s been happening every day since day one with the system. The controller keeps losing a connection with the system and there’s nothing I can do about it. I had pretty much confirmed that it was a problem with both controllers, but I wasn’t absolutely positive. Not positive, until last night.
I grabbed the controller and hit the PS button, reassigned it to player 2 then grabbed our second SIXAXIS and PS’d it into Player 1.
“Here, use this one.” I mumble, handing her the second controller. Not angry at her of course, just at the situation. I’ve said it before, controller issues like this shouldn’t happen. Anyway, I start to go back to my project,
“Why does it do that?” she asks as she resets her now ruined game of Sudoku. I didn’t answer, I didn’t have an answer and just sat down on the couch nearby and sighed to myself, rubbing my eyes. She plugged away at a new game and about 4 minutes in, it happened again. The cursor cruised across the Sudoku board for about three seconds, then she regained control.
“See see! I can’t play this game anymore, it keeps ruining my time!” If my wife stops playing then the entire gaming investment will eventually become only my personal hobby. If it becomes only my hobby, it’s a really, really expensive hobby for me to have.
So that’s it, I’m going to gather all my PS3 serial number and barcodes then give Sony support a call. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
