XBL Spring Update Causing Jaggies?

Submitted by on May 10, 2007 – 6:46 pm3 Comments

xbl-dash.jpgWhile trolling around a few Xbox forums I came across several occurrences of people stating that after the recent spring dashboard update that certain games looked as if the anti-aliasing had been turned down or off. I checked this issue with two separate 360s, one that had the update and one that did not. Personally I could not see any difference whatsoever. Still, with as many people noticing this phenomenon at the same time it might only be affecting those using certain cords such as the VGA adapter or the new Elite with HDMI.

So far no word from Microsoft on this issue (assuming it’s even an issue). Those who are complaining say the difference is not terrible and the games still look great, but that there are just a bit more jaggies here and there. Have any of you noticed any difference since the update?

I am noticing it on my elite having tried it with both component and HDMI. Forza demo has lots of jaggies for me which some are reporting and others are not.

It might have something to do with the recently added reference settings (standard, intermediate, extended) in the display settings. I turned mine to intermediate and it seemed to reduce the problem somewhat.

Actually the difference is terrible for alot of us and alot of the games definitely do not look great anymore.
