Welfare Budget Used to Pay for Illinois Game Law Fight

Recently, the Illinois State Legislature spent over $1 million fighting for the constitutionality of their game law, passed in 2006. While this sounds a bit tame on its own right, it gets worse. Seems that they used money from the Welfare department, and the Economic Development department to help fund the lawsuit.

So lets get this straight. The people receiving welfare and employment assistance have to pony up to pay for a lawsuit that no one thought had any chance of succeeding a constitutionality challenge. Score another one for inept politicians who can’t recognize the true priorities of government.
