I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

There seems to be a hot rumor going around that Test Drive Unlimited 2 is in production and is scheduled for a March 2008 release. Some of the items that are mentioned are weather effects, upping the graphics and more cars. Also, it seems like there will be over 200KM of roads to drive. There was no mention of location.

So far, this is just a rumor, but it has appeared on several websites and it all goes back to a Polish website called GRY-Online.

Given Atari’s treatment of its customers of TDU, its lack of updates on why promised DLC is months late, why they hype non-existant features in TDU still on their website, lie to their customers on their official US and UK forums, and on and on, I won’t be buying this one.

Atari and Eden got my money for TDU and the first 2 car packs. They will not get another dime from me ever. I only bought pack 2 due to posts on the UK official forums by a moderator that the hardcore mode promised last January would be free but would require you to buy pack 2. Pack 2 was 2 months late when released in late December. I bought it, January came and went without any communication from Atari on why January’s DLC and hardcore mode didn’t show up. They did show up in mid-March with Atari stating that now the hardcore mode was not free and did not require pack #2 and they knew this all along but allowed the misinformation from the mods to be spread so everybody would buy pack #2 who wanted the hardcore mode.

Now here we are in May and DLC #4 (which was really due in December since they hype their “monthly” car packs all the time) is still not out with no communication from Atari. Now that Atari is laying off 20% of its employees I highly doubt the situation will get any better.
