Stor3d: PSone Games, Home Beta, Gauntlet II
This week’s PlayStation Store update includes a demo, a couple of games, and a smattering of videos. If you were accepted to the Home Beta in North America, you can now see it under the Blu-ray preview videos section. I wasn’t, and I drowned my sorrows last night by pounding the stuffing out of villains online in Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
See what’s available after the jump.
Demos:
Super Rub-A-Dub: Round about the last or second to last level in the 5-level demo it goes from cute to stupendously annoying. Hint: tilting is not precise and water currents don’t challenge you they just get you mad.
Games:
Gauntlet II. Just five bucks, 4-player online play but NO voice chat. If Sony adds voice chat to the XMB from within all games this won’t be an issue, but since that’s just wishful thinking, I’d like to see it in these downloadable games, you know the ones being made by Sony for their own console? Hello?
Super Rub-A-Dub can be bought. Hint: play the demo first.
The PSone games are now playable on the PS3 and PSP. One download plays on both. If you already bought the game for PSP, you can redownload it free of charge to play it. These include:
-Jet Moto
-Syphon Filter (mmmm taser kills)
-Tekken 2
-Wipeout
-2XTreme
-Rally Cross
-MediEvil
-Destruction Derby
-Jumping Flash
Videos:
Rampart game trailer: build your castles, take a turn, blast the other guys’ castle, rebuild.
Blacksite Area 51 game trailer: alien invaders in a shooter? Zzzz.
Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End movie trailer: Big budgets, big effects, must be better than 2 was.
Super Stardust HD game trailer. A spherical board with very Geometry Wars-styled two-stick-shooter gameplay.
Plus the email I got from Sony announcing these games has a big ad showing Calling All Cars! as Coming Soon. (Again.)
Via my email, Kotaku and why not Kotaku again for the Home Beta tidbit.
