Soul Calibur spinoff coming to Wii.

Namco-Bandai announced that they’ll be bringing an adventure game spinoff of the Soul Calibur series, called Soul Calibur Legends, exclusively to the Wii. Matt Cassamassina told us this (without mentioning it by name but it was obvious anyway) in last week’s Wii-k in Review podcast at IGN, so it wasn’t really a surprise, but this is the confirmation we were waiting for.
I’m still smarting from the way Namco snubbed Gamecube and Xbox owners by releasing Soul Calibur III as a PS2-only release not too long ago, especially after sales of the Cube and Xbox editions of Soul Calibur II were pretty strong. I recall Namco saying they would support Wii at that time, but not with Soul Calibur III. It’s a shame, because I still enjoy playing Soul Calbur II for Gamecube.
Hopefully the fighting will be as deep as it is in their main fighting game line. Equally nice would be the reprising of Link as a fighter in this game, as on the Gamecube. Best of all would be what they themselves hope for: a reinvention that produces something brilliant.
