Hitman: Codename 47 has been in development for some time and at one point was even going to star Vin Diesel. That was a good thing, because Vin has huge street cred with the gamer set. Unfortunately, Vin did not stick with the project and he was replaced by Timothy Olyphant. I had never heard of this guy, but someone pointed out to me that he was the detective that was partnered with Delroy Lindo’s character in Gone in Sixty Seconds.

I honestly thought that this movie had no chance once Vin was no longer attached to it. Figured it was another gaming property that was going to end up in the pile of horrible game to movie releases that have happened over the years. Now I have a little glimmer of hope. It is small, but the pictures at Filmwad.com at least give me a sense that the people making the movie have some understanding of the character. It will now be up to the quality of the script, whether this clicks with fans of the game series, but the look is pretty well nailed down.
