Ones to Watch For: May 2007 Xbox 360 Releases

May-2007-Releases.jpgAll in all things look to be shaping up for a pretty decent May for the Xbox 360. A few games such as Shadowrun and possibly Mass Effect were supposedly going to ship in May, but as us gamers know, things don’t always work out the way we want them to. No matter though because if you own a 360 you are still going to have a pretty decent month of gaming. While most of the games coming out this month for the beloved box are Multi-platform, there is one really big exclusive that looks give the 360 another thoroughbred in the stable.

Spiderman 3 (May 4th, 2007)

Arriving the same day as the movie I come under the dilemma of which one to do first. Ever since I picked up the first free roaming Spiderman game back a few years ago I was hooked. Hopefully with much more powerful hardware they have made the experience even better. If only I had Ben Hecks’ Portable 360 I could do both at the same time!

Command & Conquer 3 (May 8th, 2007)

Who says you can’t do RTS’s on a console…not me. C&C3 is a fast paced high energy game that makes you use that lump three feet above your butt. I had a hard time getting used to RTS’s, but now I love the genre and hope to see them more readily availible on consoles in the future. Just consider this one a primer for Halo Wars.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (May 22nd, 2007)

A movie game, is there really more I need to say. I will give this game a chance, but it is highly unliklely to have a chance at GOTY. That said it might be a fun time waster, lets just hope the swordplay is a bit more fun then the last POTC game.

Forza 2 (May 29th, 2007)

If you fancy yourself a racer then you you will obviously be shelling out $60 for Forza 2. When the first Forza debuted many didn’t think it could be better then the coveted Gran Turismo. I loved GT, but I absolutely craved Forza. Opinions will vary but mine is that Forza was a much better game then any GT that I had played before. The game really feels like it was put together by people who love cars, and with a brand new physics engine and polished next gen look, Forza 2 looks to bury GT again. The in-depth customization being built into Forza 2 puts all other games to shame. It also sports online races and an auction house where you can sell your vehicular masterpieces…gravy!!!

We can also look forward to many XBL Arcade games and don’t forget new maps for Gears of War this Thursday. Oh and there is that tiny tiny Halo 3 beta coming out on the 16th. I wonder if anyone even knows that is coming out? Jokes aside I cannot wait for June to roll in, as some of my most anticipated games will be dropping that month. The Darkness and Shadowrun just to name a couple. The Shadowrun beta showed real promise and I hope it got better thanks to our input. Well, that will do it for the major releases this month for the Xbox 360. Make sure to check back June 1st to see what is in store for the summer, and remember these release dates are subject to change.
