Hour Of Victory Demo Impressions

First and foremost…I love WWII games! I buy and play almost every single game made about WWII, but Hour of Victory might just be the first war game that I will pass on. Built on the Unreal engine the game promised amazing visuals, but in reality the game barely looks better then games like Call of Duty 2, worse in some areas. Don’t get me wrong the game does not look bad, but it’s far from stellar and character models look a bit weird sometimes.

The graphics I can live with but it’s the gameplay that counts, and that is where HOV fails miserably. First off the aiming in the game feels clunky and slow. Even when I turned up the sensitivity it still felt like I was aiming in slow motion. This clunky aiming system really makes the game play and feel like a generic low class fps. They try to add to the game by giving you the option to play as different characters with different strengths, but in the end they all have the same botched controls which makes the game fustrating, slow, and not worth the money. There are some cool death animations and the amped up ragdoll physics make for some fun deaths, but it’s not enough to save this game from mediocrity.

With a market flooded with WWII combat games HOV does nothing to stand out or be original. Save your money and buy a good game like Shadowrun!
