God of War: Chains of Olympus controls, gameplay video
The controls for Chains of Olympus have been revealed in a PocketGamer UK hands-on article, and it looks like they’ve made intelligent choices for what buttons do what, requiring L and R to be pushed along with the analog nub to roll.
All this sounded good, but I was surprised to find a gameplay video over at PSPFanboy. Jump through and check it out. It looks nice and meaty, and the sound quality is just good enough to get across the fabulous soundtrack which could very well be taken entirely from God of War II.
As a fan of the storyline, I’m also intrigued to see what they fill in since this game takes place after Kratos is tricked into killing his family (shown in God of War 1 flashbacks) and before he goes after Ares in the events of God of War. He apparently appeals to the gods a number of times for help and they turn him down. We’ve put in hidden cameras, taken all hope from a mortal augmented with vicious weaponry and nearly infinite reserves of vengeance, so let’s see what happens!
Having experienced hands on the steering wheel of game development can make a big difference. Having Ready At Dawn working on God of War: Chains of Olympus installment for the PSP is an excellent choice. I’m currently playing their first PSP game Daxter, and it’s gorgeous, well-designed, and an all-around great platformer. Go get it if you haven’t played it yet.
