Flow For Five ’til 5/23

20070514_flow_for_5_bucks.pngEvery so often a podcast will lament the iron grip console manufacturers have on pricing in their online stores, and occasionally someone will ask if the stuff will ever go on sale. We’ve seen some things show up on Xbox Live Arcade which will later become free — map packs for example — but it’s pretty much unheard of for something to have a reduced price.

Enter fl0w, the oddly-named game from ThatGameCompany for the PlayStation Network. The game’s original USD$7.99 price has been discounted to USD$4.99 until May 23rd. It’s just five bucks for a very pretty, quite relaxing game that uses the SIXAXIS tilt feature extensively. I paid full price for it back when I got my PS3 and don’t regret it, so I recommend picking it up now that it’s even cheaper.

James let me know a little while ago that SCEA has purchased ThatGameCompany’s first three games, so with luck buying Flow now will send the message that we like unique games. Perhaps they’ll take the reviews to heart and put more meat on the bones of the next game they produce.

Uh, yeah, but fl0w is FREE on the web, using your pc! PS3 high-def visuals and motion control are nice and all, but I can’t see spending the extra five bucks on a game that is pretty much just a brief diversion…
