A fond, sad farewell to my Gamecube.

Now that I’ve got a Wii which is fully compatible with Cube games, I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I really don’t need my Game Boy Player enough to keep the system. Along with this realization is the one that I have a stack of games I’m never going to play. So I scooped everything together and off to eBay it goes.
It’s a sad moment, and it was actually hard to hit the button to finally list this auction. I see Gamecubes on there (admittedly with much less stuff) going for very little money, and I worry more than anything that whoever gets my old friend will mistreat it.
I got to thinking about how much we value the physical things we associate with our hobby/pastime/addiction. It’s silly when you really think about it, but I realize now I was holding onto a system I would likely never even turn on again and using the Game Boy Player as a weak excuse. It’s no comparison to how easy it was for me to flip the PS2 I owned briefly. Anyone else have an experience selling a piece of hardware over which they felt a sense of loss? I’d love to hear that I’m not the only person in love with my electronics.
