Xbox 360 Warranty Improves, I think
It’s pretty common to hear that a friend’s Xbox 360 or even your own suddenly sports the dreaded, flashing red ring of death or other disheartened issues which results in a call to Microsoft’s shop of of rejected 360′s to get it repaired. In an effort to improve customer support, Microsoft has supposedly improved the warranty service recently for the Xbox 360 console, so if it’s out of warranty, you’ll still get free shipping but you will have to pay for repair charges. They will also send you a pre-paid box with paid postage so you can send your damaged console back to them for fixing. In addition to this, the warranty service was upgraded from 90 days to 1 year back in December, and it was my understanding that they would send you a temporary replacement console in the meantime. So it sounds like they’ve got a good thing going with support, right?
Not so much. My younger Brother, Adam will sing you a different song. His 360 has been in the shop for just over 2-months now, he didn’t get a replacement console and they lost his order which somehow got cancelled. Adam got fed up and had to call in after weeks of no response only to inform him his order was obsolete, thereby saying: sorry, you would have never received your 360 back had you not called in to check on it. They didn’t even offer him compensation for his bad luck, he had to ask for his two-months of Xbox live Gold service he was paying while waiting.
So to me, that doesn’t sound like good service at all. Don’t get me wrong though, I can understand that they’re trying to keep up with the support demand for all the faulty consoles, but two months?
