Kevin Garrad, a soldier with the 3rd Infantry Division was on his patrol route in Iraq when he came under enemy fire. During the exchange, the Kevin was hit in the chest with a round, close range from an AK-47. The round went through the body armor that the soldier was wearing, but was slowed down enough thatt the iPod was able to finish the job of stopping the bullet. Here is a a link to a full size picture on Flickr, that shows off the destroyed iPod. There was no word on whether the device was still working, but from the looks of it, I highly doubt it.

If I was this guy, I would immediately get on the phone with Apple about an advertising deal. And maybe Apple will hook him up with a new iPod. Not sure if that is going to happen, but that would be really cool of them to do something like that.

Not a chance. As soon as Apple starts advertising that its product can stop a bullet, they’ll get sued the first time it doesn’t.

Bah… bullcrap, bullets cannot go through body armor unless piercing the same spot multiple times. even then the way that ipod is, is obvious a terrorist doesnt shoot someone once, the hold down the trigger shouting alalalalalalala!!!…
