It seems that Jerry Bruckheimer had found a director to bring Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to the big screen. And that director is none other than Michael Bay. Yes, it seems that Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney, the rights holder, would like to get Michael Bay on the set to start filming after he is finished with Transformers.

The film is suppose to follow the Sands of Time video game, but Jordan Mechner has a different take on the project. He wants to take the best aspects of the game and meld them into a new movie experience, similar to what Disney did with Pirates of the Carribean.

Menchner wrote the first draft of the screenplay, but subsequent drafts have been written by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. The movie is set for a Summer 2009 launch and Disney is hoping to have a franchise on their hands. Could be considering they have enough info with Warrior Within and The Two Thrones to make a pretty good trilogy.
