Bored Sony signs on as “Pii” manufacturer.

Nintendo’s recent search for additional manufacturers for their popular Wii system has culminated in a deal with Sony where Sony will be manufacturing and selling Wii consoles on Nintendo’s behalf. This is not as surprising as it may seem at first glance, as Sony manufactures most of the world’s portable device batteries, even for those devices that directly compete with its own products, as became evident in last year’s massive battery recall.
Sony reportedly jumped at the chance to manufacture a device that people actually will buy, and have promised to report the sales numbers of these Wii consoles rather than the ship numbers, though admittedly in this case it’s likely to be the same, at least at first.
The Wii systems manufactured by Sony will be rebranded as the Nintendo Pii, will be black, and will use the font from the Spider-Man movies instead of the one Nintendo’s been using for their systems up to this point. Additionally, while the hardware’s capabilities will be identical to the Wii’s, Sony is planning to charge $600 for the system.
Anyone who’d like to add to this… “story” in the comments is absolutely encouraged.
