Tecmo Bowl Not All There for the Wii

Tecmo_Bowl_NES.jpgWell, everyone is talking about how great it is to have Tecmo Bowl available for download on the VC. It was one of the best football games out there at the time and it still has some sentimental value in my heart for showing me that certain trick plays can rule over any AI that a programmer puts in a game.

While the game is authentic to its NES days, it has one noticable change. All of the player names have changed. No longer can you see Bo Jackson, Thurman Thomas or Lawrence Taylor gracing the field. That’s right, according to an article at Kotaku.com, the NFLPA exclusive agreement with EA covers this title as well, so the game had to have all of the names changed in order to comply with the license between the NFLPA and EA.

So when you go to get your Tecmo grove on, don’t expect to throw a bomb from Marino to Clayton. Instead it will be Joe Schmo to John Doe.

THAT BLOWS. This EA monopoly bull crap is a living breathing example of how many choices breed better innovation. Hooray for greed!

  • XAQ!

You spelled groove wrong. I got fired from writing with “poor grammar” and it’s nice to see the people who take my spot type just as bad. More power to ya aeropause.
