Sega bringing Virtua Fighter to Virtual Console. Virtually.

“In addition to Virtua Fighter 2, Sega also plans to release 1989′s Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and the third game in the Wonder Boy spin off series Wonder Boy in Monster World from 1991.”
I’m not immediately familiar with the Virtua Fighter series, but as I understand it, it’s considered a chief competitor to Namco’s Tekken series as a “realistic” fighting game, unlike Street Fighter or Soul Calibur, games that are known for their over-the-top splashy effects. In actuality, this is not Virtua Fighter 2, but Virtua Fighter 2 Genesis, a 2D fighter designed based on the 3D arcade game that more appropriately appeared on Sega’s next home console, the Saturn. This Genesis edition also appeared on the Sega Genesis Collection.
I’ve been told, in casual form, that the Wonder Boy and Alex Kidd series on Sega’s consoles were good games, but I haven’t played those either. We’re still waiting on Phantasy Star games here, Sega. Still waiting. Anybody planning to pick up one or more of these games when they hit?
