Racing Games Blamed For Bad Driving

use_frink_john.jpgVideo games made my kid eat dead, maggot filled carcass rats! What else is new? Games are blamed for everything wrong in society, it seems. The latest and greatest blame game is on the topic of crazy accident-prone gamers playing racing games and then going outside all Death Race 2000-like and acting all loopy. It seems that das German researchers at the Ludwig-Maximilians University and the Allianz Centre for Technology did some research ie. (watched gamers race on speed and Starbucks) then came up with some stats that conclude we – tend to get into more accidents and drive more aggressively because of racing games.

The University Psychologists tested 198 men and 98 women, which is a fair amount of people I guess. The study doesn’t mention what games they tested, but what I want to know is, was Mario Kart involved because that is one aggressive driving title.

Wrong “experts”! Come down here to Florida if you want to see what bad driving is, then you’ll notice they don’t play video games. My friends and I, who play video games, always comment on the horrible driving capabilities of people here. People here don’t even obey the simplest of laws like not running a red light.

If anything video games have helped my driving by helping me understand the physical capabilities of a car. I have not once gotten in an accident and probably because of the near realistic physics in video games. I don’t just rampage around town like I’m in a race or playing GTA.
