PS3 won’t update backwards compatibility

Submitted by on March 21, 2007 – 3:50 am3 Comments

backwards.jpgIf you’re attached to your PS1 and PS2 games, you might not want to trade in towards the PS3. It looks like Sony may not be updating backwards compatibility with firmware updates, instead preferring to focus on bringing new features to the PS3. Should we gamers be happy with what BC we’ve got, or is Sony shooting themselves in the foot?

Site doesn’t seem to exist to me, maybe it’s broken from the traffic?

I’d be very surprised if they kept backwards compatibility at EU launch levels, but the list now available online has a very large number of games listed. Where was that link…

I think the article is bogus.

The EU compatibility site is here:
    http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/bcGames.htm

And at the bottom it says:
“If your game is not listed here, emulation is not yet supported on PLAYSTATION¬Æ3. Please check back when future PS3 system software updates are released.”

Come on, your title and the article are total bogus. Sony NEVER has said that they will not update backwards compatibility, all they said was, don’t expect significant updates as time goes on…the articile that you link too says this!

Are they going to put a ton of focus on it? Nope, are they going to abandon it? Nope. And lets not also forget that they just announced that for the EU launch 73% of title will be BC, which works out to be over 1700 titles that will work.

Man talk about creating a title for an article just to get people fired up….what is this Fox news?
