ps3-fah-header.jpgStarting towards the end of the month, PS3 owners will have the option to donwload and donate their free CPU cycles to the Folding@Home project. This will allow for more CPU processing cycles dedicated to finding cures for Parkinson’s, Cancer and other debilitating illnesses. Score one for Sony and their dedication to the cause.

I bet this will stir up some crazy comments towards Sony even though it’s a good thing.

    What ever happened to SETI???

I hope it works better than the Windows and Mac versions of Folding@Home that are out there. They’re buggy disruptive garbage, especially compared to Seti@Home.

There are a few stupid things about how they implemented it. Primarily, it doesn’t run how it should run: in the background. It would make sense to have this thing start up when you’re navigating the XMB, and run in the background while you do downloads, and so on, with the resources allocated to it scaled as necessary. It runs in the foreground, and that’s it.

I’m a little bummed that Folding@Home isn’t built with BOINC, because then any BOINC-compatible project could be run on your system.
