Seems that Mayor Bloomberg has been trying to distance his city from Grand Theft Auto 4 after the trailer for the game depicts New York City. Quoting statistics, Mayor Bloomberg said that the city’s murder rate is down 28% and that auto theft is down 58% this year.

Why are they so insenced over 30 second trailer? Yes it does look like New York City and no, they don’t really clarify that it is Liberty City, a fake city. But to think that crime is going to monumentally rise with this trailer is a ridiculous thought.

Thanks to Joystiq for the story and IGN for the image.
