Middling “Hoshigami” gets remixed onto DS.
MaxFive’s Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth appeared on the PS1 in the US in 2001, courtesy everyone’s favorite RPG-importer, Atlus, to pretty low reviews. IGN’s review is one of the lowest, at a 40. That’s OK though, because Aksys Games will be bringing the game back from obscurity (and perhaps mediocrity) in the form of a kind of “remixed” edition of the game on Nintendo DS.
While the DS is no stranger to PS1 ports to be sure, this one promises to benefit from the change, as it’s a strategy RPG. Those who like the game are going to be pleased to hear it will have (optional) stylus control, which would be a good fit for the genre. Indeed, the platform is pretty ideal for such a thing, which is one of the reasons I’m looking forward to Heroes of Mana. One of the complaints I’m seeing about the original is its complexity, so perhaps stylus control can smooth that wrinkle out.
Aksys says we’ll see this one this summer. Have a look at the original PS1 game in a video below. It looks a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics.
