Marketplace Content for Marvel Ultimate Alliance

marvelultimatealliance-ghostride.jpg There are stories popping up all over the place that say that there will be new content coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace for Marvel Ultimate Alliance. There is a Heroes and a Villians pack, along with gamer pictures. The heroes include Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye, Cyclops and Nightcrawler while the Villians include Magneto, Sabretooth, Doctor Doom and Venom. The packs will cost 500 marketplace points each or you can get both bundled together for 800 points. Gamer pictures do not have a price yet, but will most likely be comparable to current gamer picture packs. No word on exactly when this content will be released, but it seems like it will be soon.

One thing that is a bit strange is why they would allow you to play as villians, since the whole point of the game is to defeat the bad guys. And as the article says, why Doom. He is, after all, the main protagonist. Why would you want Doom vs. Doom?

Kotaku has the official press release from Activision detailing the hero pack, the villain pack, and the skin pack for the 360 UI.

I’ve emailed Activision asking about the long shot of a PlayStation Store offering of the hero and villain packs, but given the comments from other developers about the infancy of the PlayStation network at the time MUA was released at launch, I doubt they programmed hooks into MUA to allow new content to be downloaded.
