Live Arcade Wednesday 3/14/07: TMNT 1989
Ah 1989, H. W. Bush succeeded Reagan as President, Hulk Hogan defeated Randy Savage in Wrestlemania V and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles invaded American arcades. Fast forward to 2007, Bush is the President, Hogan is collecting social security and the Turtles are finally back in the prime time.
Well, just as both my other examples continue to disappoint, TMNT 1989 for the Xbox Live Arcade is far from prime time. I was a huge fan of this game in upright form but this one lost direction on it’s way to the 360′s Live Arcade. While it’s only 400 points ($5 US), that’s no excuse for the terrible audio quality included here. It wouldn’t have taken much to toss in some updated or remastered audio or possibly just kick the treble down a bit. What you get here is a tinny mess.
I’d buy this game if the audio wasn’t so painful to listen to. The core of the game is a great side-scrolling beat’em up so it’s a damn shame that Konami didn’t spend a little time updating it as it deserves. Video proof is coming but until then, full game specs inside.
