Less than 15% of PSP owners have a DS
According to a senior marketing manager’s survey, only 11-14% of PSP owners also have a DS. John Koller revealed that at last night’s GDC blogger panel. He explained that this was consistent with the fact that the PSP targets an entirely different market than the DS. He also mentioned that it competes against the iPod and the Zune, among other multimedia devices. In terms of games, no way they compete – the iPod only has a few casual games – so he must mean in terms of music and videos. For video content, I like the PSP, but really, my iPod beats the PSP when it comes to playing just music – it’s smaller and more portable, and has more features like lyrics and playlist management.
