GTA IV Trailer Has Arrived
T -0:00. One problem, I cannot get the site to overload. Seems that Rockstar did not count on the huge wash of visitors. At the end of the GTA IV countdown, the page refreshed to show me a new page. Except it never actually loaded. So now we are playing the refresh game.
3:14 PM PST – I get to the page where I have to enter the info to prove that I am of age. And then it times out on verification.
3:17 PM Finally. The trailer looks amazing. Looks as if it is taking place in New York City. Graphics look really sharp and a feel of a vertical city. The city is quite alive and vibrant. And it has to do with the Russian Mob. I so predicted that in the forums earlier today. Sweet.
Thanks Nelson at Gamevideos.com for the video feed.
What We Think:
Joe: Now that I have watched it a couple of times, I have to again say how detailed the trailer is. The statue of Liberty, the Chrysler Building, Coney Island, it all looks fantastic. Now one has to wonder if the character is escaping the mob or is he here for the mob. The detail in the character face is just wonderful. Seems that the work that was done on Table Tennis made its way into the game. New York City is a tough city to pick however as it is quite a busy place. Can they manage to give it the sense of bustle that it has in real life or will it fall short. Guess we will all have to wait until 10/16/2007.
Shane:
GTA 4 trailer launches, the internet comes to a screeching halt. It was apparent due to the “404″ on Rockstar’s site that it seemed as if EVERYONE was downloading the trailer at the same time, even mirror sites were slow for the first half hour. Overall I thought it looked nice though. It was hard to talk about the gameplay because there wasn’t any, but I’m sure there will be more clips to come. Please no more countdown clocks by the way, anything but that. It doesn’t work on the web for uber popular video games. Set up a TV station on channel 1034463 that has a countdown clock as TV’s won’t crash, I promise.
I got the feeling the clip was all in-game footage as it wasn’t pretty CG to me. With that said I can’t wait to see this new character roaming the streets of NY doing whatever it is he’ll do that pisses off political figures.
James:It looks perty but if the controls are sketchy like all the other versions, it won’t grasp my attention for more than the occasional screw around. Liberty City again?
Richard:
First off the look of the game is quite amazing considering we are many months away from launch. The RAGE engine they designed looks to be quite powerful. The shadows and lighting in the trailer are very well done. The choice of Liberty City at first was a disappointment, but seeing how detailed they are making the city,. I can forgive the fact they are going back to an old environment. The other thing I love is the choice of main character. I was kind tired of the young athletic smarta@@ stereotype. We now have a Russian mob stereotype to play, and I could not be happier. Can’t wait till October!
According to Xbox.com, the game is also only 1-player. They better finally get some 2-player co-op rocking on this one. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled on Xbox.com for an update, someday.
