God of War 3, Movie, PSP, wowee!
With God of War 1 having sold 1.67 million copies in the US alone, the sequel was a no-brainer. Everyone wanted a copy when the reviews for God of War 2 came out a few weeks ago, but it was held back from retail. It turns out they spent the time cranking out over 1 million copies of *that* just to stock up their favorite retailers. With big reviews, big buzz, and big numbers of games probably flying off shelves by the time you read this, a God of War 3 sounds like another easy decision for the franchise, so it’ll be coming to the PS3 and will have a little thing that Sony recently made nice-nice to get back: rumble.
It also turns out that the rumors of a God of War game for PSP were true. The back of the God of War 2 manual apparently notes that Ready At Dawn is hard at work on the game for a 2007 release. It will also be an all-new adventure with a story that may be a side story from God of War 2. The 1Up blog (9:35 time index) also mentions they’re still working on what to do about losing the rolling dodge that the right analog stick gives you in GoW1 and 2.
Throw in that a God of War movie is being worked on and there’s an awful lot of Kratos going on.
I could do without a movie. I mean really, what are the odds that will be any good? But once I tear through God of War 2, I’ll be raring to go for a PSP adventure, and will look forward to a PS3 edition of the Spartan’s latest shouting match with the denizens of Olympus.
